How we score the best lofi
An opinionated formula from Spotify-style audio features — not streams, not playlists, not vibes alone.
Every Self Release track in the catalogue (minus vocal cuts from Memories and Please Hold Me) gets a Best Score from 0 to 1:
- 28% instrumentalness — classic lofi is mostly instrumental
- 22% energy sweet-spot (about 0.22–0.55) — present without pushing
- 18% danceability sweet-spot (about 0.40–0.70) — the gentle head-nod
- 14% acousticness — warm, textured feel
- 10% tempo near 70–100 BPM
- 8% valence near 0.25–0.55 — balanced mood
The Gold 25 are the top 25 scores. The shortlist is the top 100. Laureate rooms re-rank the shortlist for chill, study, night, warm, and head-nod affinities. Song titles never exclude a track if the audio fits; openers are on-theme and still in the top 35% of that room’s score.
